Duration: 5 Hours | 5.5 Continuing Mediation Hours (Ethics, Diversity)

Interpersonal Violence and Mediation (2CME IV) - Recorded

This presentation is eligible for 2 CME DV hours. This lecture addresses domestic violence issues and mediator's responsibilities. Some of the issues discussed: recognizing signs of domestic violence, reporting domestic violence cases, and impact on children in a household with domestic violence.

The Ethnicity & Race Argument in Tort Cases (2 CME: 1Ethics, 1Diversity) - Recorded

This presentation is eligible for up to 2CME General credits (1CME Diversity, 1 CME Ethics). This course reviews and examines the race and ethnicity based arguments in tort litigation. Litigants in tort litigation use expert witnesses who provide expectancy data on the total income an injured person would have earned if he/she had not been injured based on historical statistical data, such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics (LBS), with race and ethnicity as its focus.  Courts have opined when and how such data can be used and argued on individual characteristic rather than on class/ethnicity characteristics.
