 Becoming a Qualified EEO Mediator: EEOC Requirements To become a qualified mediator for Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) disputes, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) sets specific requirements. 

These requirements are designed to ensure that mediators have the necessary knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding to effectively mediate EEO disputes, which often involve sensitive and complex issues.

Program concept: 

Foundational Knowledge: EEO laws, types of workplace discrimination, and the EEO complaint process.

Mediation Skills: Conflict resolution theories, communication techniques, and negotiation strategies.

Practical Application: Case studies, role-playing exercises, and interview techniques.

Ethics and Professionalism: Mediator ethics, cultural competence, and bias mitigation.

The purpose of this training is to introduce students to EEO counseling and help EEO Counselors develop techniques through lectures, discussion, and interactive role-plays that help the EEO Counselor succeed in the Federal sector. 

The EEO Counselor serves as a liaison between the employee and management in the informal complaint processing stage

This intensive course is intended to provide students with training in Employment/Labor Law Conflict Dispute Resolution. The course will give you the essential knowledge needed to work as an employment mediator. It covers a wide range of topics including substantive employment law, as well as training in the mediation process and skills, all aimed at preparing participants to become qualified mediators for employment disputes.

Program concept: The program has 3 parts:  The first 4 modules focus on substantive employment and labor laws. The remaining 5 modules focus on meditation practices and related rules and policies. The course ends with practical exercises and a final quiz.

  • Part I: Law that applies to employment and relevant case law
  • Part II: Mediation, then in-depth role-playing to help you learn and practice the skills to facilitate the process.
  • Part III: Practical exercises and testing

Equal Employment Annual Recertification

MD110 requires EEO Investigators and Counselors to complete 8 hours of annual refresher courses. Upon completion of the refresher courses, you will receive a Certificate of Completion with IACET CEUs.
