Course Overview
A practice-centered 24-hour basic mediation program covering the mediation process, impartial practice, communication, ethics, negotiation, caucus, agreement writing, and coached role-play.
Who Should Attend
New and developing mediators, attorneys, HR and EEO professionals, managers, and conflict-resolution practitioners.
Program Details
- Instructional time: 24 hours
- Delivery: Instructor-guided live online / virtual
- Instructor: ADR Academy / Guno O. Ritfeld and approved faculty, as assigned
- Assessment standard: 80%
- Certificate: Issued after all completion requirements are verified
Learning Outcomes
- Prepare parties and establish a fair, informed mediation process.
- Use active listening, reframing, questioning, agenda building, and option generation.
- Recognize ethical risks involving impartiality, confidentiality, capacity, and informed decision-making.
- Conduct a structured mediation and document clear, workable terms.
Completion Requirements
- Attend and participate in all 24 instructional hours.
- Complete knowledge checks, skills exercises, and coached role-plays.
- Meet the 80-percent course completion standard and submit the evaluation.
