Standalone lab enrollment requires verified Foundations completion before lab entry. Already enrolled? Open your Academy workspace.
Prepare new and developing field examiners to conduct fair inquiries, develop reliable records, apply current authority, and make supported recommendations through investigation, representation, resolution, and compliance assignments.
Audience: New and developing NLRB field examiners, investigator trainees, and agency training cohorts with an assigned instructor, coach, or mentor.
96 planned learning hours: 48 hours of Foundations, 36 hours of guided case practice, and 12 hours of capstone assessment. Breaks excluded; timing awaits pilot validation.
Suggested cohort schedule: 8 weeks at approximately 12 learning hours per week, excluding breaks. Foundations in weeks 1–4, guided labs in weeks 5–7, capstone in week 8. Actual pacing depends on the validated delivery plan and learner needs.
Your learning pathway
- Prepare: Orientation, learning-needs discussion, technology check, and faculty review arrangements.
- Learn: Complete the 12-unit Foundations course with spoken practice, legal research, and reviewed work products.
- Confirm readiness: Faculty reviews the Foundations portfolio and an oral readiness conference.
- Practice with a coach: Follow an individual lab prescription through three complete fictional cases.
- Demonstrate independently: Complete investigation and representation capstones and defend your portfolio.
- Review and transfer: Receive a human completion decision and a workplace development plan.
Practice that responds to you
Speak with realistic AI characters in your own words. Their responses adapt to your questions while staying within each character’s role and case facts. Review exhibits, test competing accounts, explain your legal reasoning, and prepare a usable record. A lifeline offers a nudge, strategy, optional example, or separate coaching when you are stuck.
Instructors assess evidence and judgment rather than keyword recitation. The learning design combines conversation, research, document work, feedback, revision, and independent demonstration.
Learning outcomes
- Explain the Field Examiner role, authority boundaries, and correct investigation or representation pathway.
- Plan and conduct impartial interviews that distinguish direct observation, inference, and corroboration.
- Preserve source traceability, corrections, contrary evidence, and a defensible inquiry record.
- Research current statutory and procedural authority and explain how it supports or limits the next action.
- Analyze incomplete or competing accounts and make an evidence-based recommendation with identified gaps.
- Prepare representation, election, resolution, and compliance work for the appropriate authorized review.
- Defend an integrated portfolio and a concrete development plan in an oral review.
