Short Course Description
EEO Mediation Procedural Training – Role Play & Observer Practicum (Day 3: Employment/Workplace)
This recorded session captures the Day 3 practicum of the Qualified EEO Neutral Training Program, focusing on employment and workplace dispute resolution within the EEO process.
Participants engage in structured mock role-play exercises based on realistic workplace scenarios drawn from actual EEO matters. These exercises simulate the progression from informal resolution through mediation and, where applicable, transition to formal investigation. Participants assume key roles—including EEO neutral, aggrieved individual, and management representative—while demonstrating core competencies in facilitation, communication, neutrality, and procedural compliance.
A central component of this course is the observer experience, where participants critically assess the mediation process in real time. Observers are expected to actively engage, evaluate performance, and reflect on their own professional practice.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Effectively manage the EEO mediation process from intake through resolution
- Apply MD-110 principles and ethical standards in workplace mediation
- Demonstrate advanced communication and conflict resolution techniques
- Critically evaluate mediation performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Provide constructive, professional feedback to peers
- Reflect on their own approach by asking: “How would I have handled this situation as the neutral?”
This course is designed specifically for certified mediators seeking to sharpen their skills through immersive role-play, structured observation, and guided critique. It emphasizes practical application, self-assessment, and continuous improvement to enhance effectiveness in real-world EEO mediation settings.
