This course reviews historical cases and explains what Mary Carter Agreement and similar agreements are, such as Pierringer agreements, when dealing with multiparty settlements. It also addresses its impact – advantages and disadvantages – as well as argument for and against such agreements. Mary Carter agreements are considered by experts to be one of the most powerful strategies for settling multi-party litigation. The presenter focus mainly on the case J.D Booth v Mary Carter. J.D. Booth v. Mary Carter Paint Company, 202 So. 2d (Fla. 2d DCA 1967) and Pierringer v. Hogan, 124 N.W.2d 106, 21 Wis.2d 182 (1963).
